I doubt many will see this page as I won’t share the link with many people for a while. I’m revisiting my old WordPress blog, cleaning it up, and figuring things out. My plan is to start posting here instead of using Instagram, YouTube, or Facebook in the future. I think the blog format will fit my needs better. But more to the point, a political season is starting to ramp up, and I barely survived emotionally the last presidential election. Sorting through all the hate, crap, memes, and fake news on Instagram or Facebook just to see what my friends were doing in the world of art or hobbies was exhausting and irreversibly damaged my faith in humanity. When your day job is to teach students how to be functioning adults and you’re getting blasted with nonsense through social media during your evening downtime, it isn’t a healthy combination. So, this little blog experiment is meant to solve that dilemma, maybe bring the functional and well-adapted people to me, rather than throw myself into the sea of chaos that social media has become every evening.
I plan to share whatever is going on in my life here but wrap those happenings in art and an artist’s outlook. I plan to get back to my roots. Since my departure from my YouTube channel five years ago, I’ve continued to work on craft projects, die-cast customization, and artsy projects of all types. In the last five years, my professional life has gone through some low lows and some incredibly exciting highs. My art has changed with my personal growth and outlook on life as well. I think those who have followed my art over the past 20 years or so will find that my personal experiences have formed a more personal art style, one that encompasses my favorite things but also reflects what’s happening in my life and the lessons I’ve learned. I think you’ll all have fun following the stories that go with each art piece and my musings over how I stumble through this worldly existence.
And yes, we’ll have plenty of customized Hot Wheels (I have about 200 that haven’t ever been seen before to show you all), dioramas, stories, and even a woolly mammoth (yes, really!) to show off.
I’m excited to be back.
