Scooby Doo: A New Doo

This was one my favorite games to work on. WACs a GameBoy Advance game (I think I remember that right). One of the only tile based games I created art for. Tile based games were a common way to make games for handheld devices that didn’t have very much onboard memory, so the art assets had to be simplified to save load times. One way to do this was by making floors, walls and other items based on an isometric grid system with masked areas for the players character to walk around in.

A fun story from this game. The contracting developer I was subcontracted to complete the assets company’s name was “Genetic Anomalies”. The company sent a GBA card reader to me to test the art Asst’s on, mainly to get the colors correct (GBA sucked at reproducing certain colors). The package was delivered by mistake to my neighbor, who nervously delivered the package from Genetic Anomalies, to my front door, carefully placing it on the doorstep as to not disturb the perceived creatures or viruses within. This was during the Anthrax Scare sometime around 2002.
